New gallery opens
Thursday, 02 December 2010
Scarborough's newest commercial gallery opens this month at Woodend Creative Industries Centre. The spectacular sequence of spaces that was once the exotic conservatory built by the Sitwell Family in 1870 has been transformed. It is to be a showcase of some of the very best art and craft work produced by professional artists based in Scarborough and beyond.

All art and craft work including fine art, photography, jewellery, textile work, ceramics, glass or artist-made cards will be for sale.

Andrew Clay, the Director of Woodend, said: 'Scarborough hosts some of the most talented artists in Yorkshire and we want to exhibit their work in what are without doubt the East Coast’s most spectacular gallery spaces. We want to encourage as many people as possible to visit Woodend to see and enjoy the very best art and craft, or better still make that unique Christmas purchase.'

The Woodend Art and Craft Gallery opens to the public on Monday 6 December. Entry is free
and opening times are Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm.
